About the role
Interpretek is hiring a full-time staff ASL interpreter in Rochester, New York. You will interpret for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people in a mix of community settings under the Director of Interpreting Services, following the RID Code of Professional Conduct. A signing bonus is available.
Responsibilities
- Provide ASL interpreting for Deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers in varied settings
- Follow the RID Professional Code of Conduct
- Give strong customer service to internal and external customers
- Apply working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Keep skills current through literature review, conferences and workshops
- Raise difficult interpreting situations with your manager
- Complete documentation and timecards promptly
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in ASL-English interpretation or a related field preferred
- 3–5 years of ASL interpreting preferred
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel
- 3–5 years of proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle confidential information and work with minimal supervision
