About the role
OBX Specialist of Houston, a Pediatrix Medical Group maternal-fetal medicine practice, is looking for a per diem diagnostic sonographer to help cover ultrasound visits for high-risk pregnant patients at its Houston, TX clinic. This as-needed role fills in around the practice's regular scheduling needs, working independently and alongside physicians and other clinical staff to deliver comprehensive prenatal imaging care.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed fetal anatomy ultrasound exams, including for multiple-gestation pregnancies
- Assist physicians during invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling
- Record exam measurements and findings accurately in the clinic's reporting systems
- Draft preliminary scan summaries for physician review and sign-off
- Prepare patients for their exams and walk them through what to expect
- Keep ultrasound machines and related supplies clean, calibrated, and stocked
- Follow standard precautions and OSHA safety protocols in all patient interactions
Requirements
- Degree from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent training
- ARDMS certification in OB/GYN or Fetal Echocardiography (or actively working toward it)
- Ongoing continuing education to keep certification current
- CPR certification preferred
- About six months of prior ultrasound experience in an OB/GYN or MFM clinic preferred
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a care team
