About the role
Comtech LLC is hiring a senior, on-site COBOL developer in Albany, NY for a contract engagement maintaining and enhancing mainframe systems used by a state human-services agency. The role calls for an experienced mainframe programmer who can work independently on legacy Unisys-based applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, and unit/integration-test COBOL programs for state human-services mainframe applications
- Maintain and enhance existing production COBOL systems running on Unisys hardware
- Participate in full-lifecycle system analysis and design for new and modified functionality
- Monitor production jobs and troubleshoot/debug issues as they arise
- Produce and maintain technical documentation for supported systems
- Work independently and provide technical leadership on assigned modules
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of hands-on senior-level COBOL development experience
- Strong background in structured COBOL programming, testing, and documentation
- Experience with COBOL 74/85 on Unisys mainframes preferred
- Familiarity with Unisys ECL and DMS 2200/RDMS preferred
- Able to work independently and provide technical leadership
- Comfortable with an on-site contract role supporting a state government client in Albany, NY
