About the role
Paxos Labs, the onchain infrastructure team behind Paxos's push to bring DeFi and digital assets into mainstream finance, is hiring a DeFi Researcher to help scale its quantitative risk-analysis program. Based primarily out of New York City, this role sits at the intersection of traditional finance and decentralized finance, building the models and frameworks that keep a live portfolio of onchain yield strategies safe and profitable.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a live portfolio of yield-generating DeFi positions across multiple protocols and chains, working closely with in-house DeFi engineers on execution
- Design and backtest quantitative algorithms that turn onchain and market data into actionable portfolio decisions
- Build original risk-analysis and portfolio-optimization frameworks suited to DeFi's unique market structure
- Monitor market and onchain signals in real time, forecasting risk and setting triggers to catch opportunities or exit ahead of adverse events
Requirements
- Strong grounding in risk management — the financial and statistical concepts used to measure and optimize portfolio risk
- Working knowledge of major DeFi protocol categories: liquid staking (Lido, EtherFi, Kinetiq), AMMs (Uniswap, Balancer), lending markets (Aave, Morpho Blue, Maple, Term Finance), perpetual DEXs (Hyperliquid, Lighter, GMX), and auction/RFQ systems (CoW Protocol, UniswapX, 1inch Fusion, Hashflow)
- Familiarity with data engineering workflows and onchain data sources
- Direct experience managing a book of positions in TradFi or DeFi — equities, tokens, or loan portfolios
- Rigorous statistical methods applied to portfolio analysis
- Able to work primarily in-person in New York City, with remote arrangements considered case by case
