About the role
ConsenSys, the company behind the MetaMask wallet, is hiring a remote Director of Technical Accounting to own the technical GAAP work behind a fast-moving crypto and Web3 business. You'll research and document accounting treatment for complex and crypto-native transactions, lead the response to new FASB/SEC/PCAOB guidance, and act as the primary point of contact with external auditors — a senior technical-accounting seat built specifically around digital-asset accounting, not a generic corporate controller role.
Responsibilities
- Research and apply US GAAP to company transactions, including revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, and stock-based compensation
- Evaluate and document accounting treatment for crypto-related transactions under ASC 350-60 and related guidance
- Draft technical accounting memos for complex transactions, including M&A activity and new products
- Monitor emerging FASB, SEC, and PCAOB guidance and lead implementation of new standards
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters
- Support M&A activity, including purchase accounting and due diligence
- Develop and maintain the company's accounting policy manual
- Mentor accounting staff and present technical matters to senior leadership and the audit committee
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Active CPA license
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience (Big 4/national firm or industry technical accounting)
- Deep US GAAP knowledge with demonstrated research and documentation experience
- Understanding of SEC reporting requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to manage multiple priorities independently
- Preferred: digital assets/cryptocurrency accounting experience (token economics, DeFi, staking), public company audit experience, and a blockchain/Web3/fintech background
What we offer
- Bonus and equity eligibility
- Fully remote within the US
