About the role
Global Impact Group LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, ISO 9001/17100-certified language services provider headquartered in Raleigh, NC, is recruiting certified American Sign Language interpreters for video remote interpreting (VRI) assignments nationwide. Working as an independent contractor from a secure home setup, you'll connect Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals with hearing parties in real time over video for healthcare, legal, business, and academic appointments across the country.
Responsibilities
- Deliver real-time, accurate ASL-to-English and English-to-ASL interpretation over secure video conferencing platforms
- Maintain cultural sensitivity and strict impartiality across healthcare, legal, business, and academic interpreting sessions
- Follow the RID Code of Professional Conduct plus applicable HIPAA and ADA requirements on every call
- Open and close each session per the client's pre-session protocol, including professional on-camera presentation
- Report any technical issues to VRI support immediately so sessions aren't disrupted
Requirements
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) — NIC, CI, or CT — required
- At least 2 years of ASL interpreting experience, including a minimum of 1 year providing VRI specifically
- Fluent, culturally competent ASL and English language skills
- A quiet, professional home workspace with wired high-speed internet (25 Mbps+ down / 5 Mbps+ up), a 1080p HD webcam, and a noise-canceling headset
- Comfortable working within Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, or similar VRI platforms
