About the role
Carriage Services is hiring a part-time Funeral Director Apprentice at Bryan Funeral Home in East Setauket, New York. This role fits a recent mortuary science graduate who has passed the National Board Exam and wants hands-on experience arranging and conducting services.
Responsibilities
- Meet with families to arrange personalized memorial services
- Keep files and paperwork timely and compliant
- Conduct and attend services regularly
- Work on-call/first-call as needed
- Use company systems for merchandise options, contracts and forms
- Support high professional standards among service staff
- Take part in community events and organizations
Requirements
- Recent graduate of an accredited mortuary science program who has passed the National Board Exam
- Funeral Director/Embalmer license or ability to obtain one in New York
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Willingness to engage with the community
- Ability to lift 75 lb (up to 100 lb) and work around chemicals and bloodborne pathogens
