About the role
SCI is hiring a full-time Embalmer at its Louisville Central Services location in Kentucky. You will prepare the deceased with care, handling embalming, restorative work and the finishing touches families see.
Responsibilities
- Verify identification and embalming authorization
- Embalm and perform restorations
- Complete removals and transfers when needed
- Dress, style hair and apply cosmetics as required
- Keep the preparation room clean and handle hazardous materials safely
- Help with chemical and supply inventory and receive caskets and supplies
- Follow all licensing and regulatory rules
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited mortuary college or degree required by state law
- Embalmer or apprentice experience as required by Kentucky law; 2 years in a 200-call-a-year facility preferred
- State driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift over 75 pounds
- Basic computer skills and good communication
