About the role
S&B USA Construction is hiring a safety-conscious CDL Driver to support its heavy civil construction operations in Chesapeake, VA. You'll move heavy equipment and materials to and from job sites for major bridge, tunnel, and highway projects using dump trucks, lowboys, and flatbeds. The role calls for solid knowledge of DOT regulations, comfort maneuvering in tight job-site conditions, and flexibility for early mornings and some weekends.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain Class A or B commercial vehicles such as dump trucks, lowboys, and flatbeds to transport construction materials and equipment
- Load and unload materials and equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and report maintenance issues
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation laws
- Coordinate deliveries and pickups with field crews and project managers
- Maintain accurate driving logs and delivery documentation
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A or B license (Class A preferred) with a tanker endorsement
- Minimum two years driving commercial vehicles in a construction environment
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety regulations
- Able to safely maneuver vehicles in tight job-site conditions
- Reliable and punctual, with flexibility for early mornings and some weekends
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as needed; Hazmat endorsement, heavy-equipment hauling experience, and OSHA 10/30 a plus
