About the role
CSCI Consulting is looking for a senior COBOL / IDMS Developer to support a federal mainframe program remotely. This is a role for someone with deep IDMS and COBOL experience who is comfortable owning database work end to end — from analysis and design through modification and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Analyze system capabilities and resolve programming issues on legacy mainframe applications
- Design, develop, and modify software using structured analysis
- Modify IDMS databases and database management systems
- Write logical and physical database descriptions
- Coordinate installations and monitor system functionality
- Ensure software meets applicable standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in mainframe IDMS and COBOL
- Creative problem-solving and strong client communication
- Solid organizational and time-management skills
- Preferred: Agile/ADSO experience, SQL, Visual Basic, and federal/DoD agency work
