About the role
The Hospital for Veterinary Surgery (HVS) — the first surgery-exclusive veterinary hospital in NYC — is hiring a confident, skilled Veterinary Assistant for its state-of-the-art Manhattan practice. Whether you come from general practice, ER, surgery or critical care, you'll rotate across support areas and grow your technical confidence in a fast-paced specialty environment built for learning and teamwork. Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to surgical and hospitalized patients
- Assist doctors and technicians for a seamless client and patient appointment experience
- Handle and restrain patients for consultation exams and sample collection
- Submit patient samples to in-house and external laboratories
- Clean, organize and stock exam rooms and the treatment area
Requirements
- 1–2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in GP, ER or specialty
- Experience with practice management software (ezyVet used in-house)
- Adaptability and a positive attitude with clients and coworkers
- Sound, ethical, independent judgment and dedication to service
