About the role
Dutch is recruiting licensed veterinarians for its growing telemedicine team as independent contractors, with this opening covering Maine and the wider New England/Mid-Atlantic footprint. You'll handle video and asynchronous-message consults from home, prescribe when it's clinically appropriate, and set your own schedule — most vets on the platform put in about 10–15 hours a week, often evenings or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Conduct video and asynchronous-message consultations with pet owners through Dutch's telemedicine platform
- Review patient history, symptoms and owner concerns to judge whether a case is appropriate for telemedicine
- Establish a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship where required before treating
- Recommend evidence-based treatment plans and issue prescriptions when clinically appropriate
- Document every visit thoroughly in Dutch's in-house EMR
- Loop in Dutch's clinical leadership team on complex or escalated cases
Requirements
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary school (or equivalent U.S. practice eligibility)
- Active veterinary license in good standing in Maine or another state where Dutch operates (AL, AZ, AR, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MS, MO, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SD, TX, VT, VA, WA, or WY), with no malpractice or disciplinary history
- 3+ years of post-graduate clinical experience
- Comfortable running consults independently using telehealth tools
- A quiet, private space with reliable internet for video calls
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
