About the role
Convene, a global operator of premium meeting and event spaces, is hiring a full-time AV Technician for its flagship 75 Rockefeller Plaza property in New York City. You'll be the hands-on AV and production support behind everything from daily meetings to high-profile live events, working closely with the property's General Manager and Technology Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-the-spot troubleshooting and support for guests across every technology skill level
- Troubleshoot audio, video, lighting, networking, and other AV equipment issues
- Diagnose and resolve computer, peripheral, mobile device, and network problems
- Coordinate with property teams and the AV Operations Manager ahead of each event to confirm technical needs are set
- Support day-to-day floor operations, including equipment set and strike and in-room AV operation
- Attend pre-production and planning meetings to fully understand each client's event needs
- Build strong working relationships with clients, teammates, and vendors
- Help maintain and periodically review department SOPs
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
- 3+ years supporting AV and IT equipment and software systems
- Hospitality or customer service experience preferred
- Working knowledge of AV gear including analog/digital audio mixers, wireless mic systems, video switchers, and projectors/displays
- Basic familiarity with Crestron or similar central control systems
- Basic data networking knowledge (DHCP/static IP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting)
- Comfortable with flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs, climb ladders, and stand or move for extended periods
