About the role
TWST Events, a New York City-based B2B event technology company that runs investor conferences and corporate meetings through its Planet AV production arm, is booking independent contractors to handle on-site audio-visual work for live financial and business events across the New York area. This is project-based 1099 work, not a staff job — you pick up assignments as they fit your schedule and are free to pass on any that don't.
Responsibilities
- Build, test, run, and tear down AV rigs for in-person conferences and meetings, including staging, video walls, truss, and lighting
- Read and troubleshoot signal flow across mixing boards, wireless mic systems, and other live-event audio gear
- Support creative production elements such as set builds, multimedia playback, video services, and branded/scenic installs
- Work directly with clients on-site, delivering a polished service experience during investor and corporate events
- Travel to venues as assigned, frequently reporting to Manhattan-area locations early in the morning
Requirements
- 2-3 years of hands-on audio-visual experience in a live-event or production setting
- Working knowledge of mixing boards, wireless audio systems, and general AV hardware troubleshooting
- Comfortable operating across Windows, Mac, and Android devices in the field
- Able to lift and move equipment weighing 50+ lbs
- Available for fully on-site work, generally within about a 100-mile radius of assignments
- Driver's license preferred
What we offer
- All production equipment supplied — no need to own or transport your own gear
- Flat travel stipend plus reimbursed travel expenses and a food allowance on assignment days
- Independent contractor flexibility: accept or decline individual assignments based on your own availability
