About the role
Luminis Health is hiring a full-time, day-shift Sterile Processing Technician II for its Central Sterile Processing department at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. In this role you'll decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays, and keep the operating room supplied with case carts. The position includes rotating weekend and on-call coverage and requires a strict professional dress code.
Responsibilities
- Process and assemble instrument trays, anesthesia and respiratory equipment, linen, and utensils accurately following aseptic technique and departmental standards
- Operate steam and plasma sterilizers on schedule, run and document required tests, and confirm the daily Bowie-Dick test on the pre-vacuum steam sterilizer
- Perform high-level disinfection with 100% accuracy and inspect every package for correct indicators, filters, and labels
- Build case carts from patient-specific pick lists, document the process in SPM, and respond to OR requests and huddles
- Precept and verify the competency of new staff, giving feedback to the training coordinator and clinical supervisor
- Conduct scheduled physical inventory of departmental supplies and instruments and report equipment malfunctions promptly
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Completion of an accredited Central Sterile Processing program preferred
- Two years of experience as a sterile processing technician preferred; advancement to Tech II based on department needs, competency, and performance
- CRCST or CBSPD certification preferred
- Able to perform medium physical work — lifting up to 35–50 lbs and frequent stooping, bending, and pulling
- Willing to work rotating weekends and on-call shifts with potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens
