About the role
Mercor is hiring contract AI trainers to help a leading AI lab build and refine the research questions, model answers, and evaluation rubrics used to benchmark and improve large language models. This is a fully remote, part-time independent-contractor role you can work on your own schedule — no fixed hours beyond the work you pick up.
Responsibilities
- Write original research questions, model answers, and evaluation materials used to train and benchmark advanced language models
- Assess AI-generated responses for accuracy, reasoning quality, and completeness against your area of expertise
- Summarize and synthesize information pulled from multiple sources into clear, well-organized write-ups
- Work independently and asynchronously on a rolling set of short-term projects
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master's degree, OR 2–3 years of relevant work experience plus a Bachelor's degree from a selective institution
- A MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series or Intel chip running macOS 15 or later
- Strong research, written communication, and source-synthesis skills
- Comfortable completing a short AI-led screening interview and a brief paid assessment before starting
- Cannot currently support candidates who require H-1B or STEM OPT work-authorization sponsorship
