About the role
Scale AI's Human Frontier Collective is recruiting leading creatives — across design, writing, film, music, and other creative fields — for a paid, part-time fellowship that feeds real creative judgment into how AI models are trained. Advisors share the taste, process, and decisions behind their craft, collaborate on briefs that test what current models can and cannot do creatively, and review model output with the research team. It is remote 1099-style contract work in the US, paid $300 an hour, with compensation, time commitment, and project scope confirmed during the interview. No prior AI experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Share the taste, judgment, and creative decisions behind your practice to help shape model development
- Collaborate with Scale's research and ML teams on briefs that test what AI models can and cannot do in your creative field
- Create original work in response to those briefs so the resulting process can inform model training
- Review model outputs in your domain, flag where they fall short, and give structured feedback
- Help define what quality looks like in your field for the research team
- Optionally introduce other leading creatives in your network to the program
Requirements
- Recognized, leading practitioner in a creative field (e.g. design, writing, film, music, or a related craft) — no AI experience needed
- A portfolio link and a past project you're proud of, submitted with your application
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Comfortable working independently on a flexible, part-time schedule
- Selection includes a portfolio review and a paid conversation with Scale's research and ML team; candidates not selected wait 90 days before reapplying for the same role
