About the role
SmarterDx builds clinical AI that helps hospitals and health systems capture the full, accurate value of the care they deliver, and it's hiring a Clinical Operations Specialist to keep that AI grounded in real clinical judgment. You'll dig into medical records, apply coding rules, and flag where documentation or the model itself needs sharpening — a fully remote, US-based role for someone who knows their way around a chart and a codebook.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze patient medical records to confirm clinical accuracy of AI-generated findings
- Flag gaps or improvement opportunities in clinical documentation and in the diagnostic models themselves
- Apply ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding rules to assign correct diagnosis and procedure codes
- Keep skills current through ongoing training on documentation and coding standards
- Feed insights back into the team's broader process-improvement efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in health information management, nursing, or a related medical field
- Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience, ideally in clinical documentation or coding
- Solid grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical documentation practices
- CCDS or CPC certification a plus, not required
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and comfort working both independently and on a team
- Must currently reside in the United States; company cannot sponsor new employment-based visas
