About the role
Salvo Health, an early-stage virtual care startup focused on chronic gut health and metabolic conditions, is hiring a remote, part-time Medical Assistant to support its care team. The role is entirely phone- and computer-based, centered on patient intake calls, scheduling, and EHR documentation for a telehealth practice — well suited to someone with medical-assistant or healthcare admin experience who wants to work independently from home.
Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to patients to complete intake
- Manage patient scheduling, appointments, and follow-ups
- Handle medical records, data entry, and EHR documentation, including orders and monthly notes
- Monitor, triage, and respond to incoming patient messages
- Keep patient records accurate and current
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality
- Provide general administrative support to the care team and patients
Requirements
- Proven experience as a medical assistant, virtual medical assistant, or in a healthcare administrative role
- Experience working remotely and making outbound patient calls
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic, eCW, or gGastro
- Experience with message triage, charting, or medical documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Experience with GI conditions and telemedicine platforms a plus
