About the role
Interpretek, a 30-year-old ASL interpreting agency founded by an interpreter, is hiring a full-time Staff Interpreter for its Orlando, FL team. You'll provide ASL interpreting for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals across a variety of settings, working under the RID Professional Code of Conduct with support from the Director of Interpreting Services.
Responsibilities
- Interpret in ASL for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals across a range of settings
- Follow the RID Professional Code of Conduct on every assignment
- Apply working knowledge of the ADA as it relates to the Deaf community
- Keep certification current through professional literature, conferences, and workshops
- Collaborate professionally with the interpreting team and work effectively with minimal supervision
- Complete documentation and timecards on time through Paylocity
- Escalate difficult interpreting situations to a manager when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in ASL-English interpretation or a related field preferred
- 3-5 years of ASL interpreting experience preferred
- RID certification required
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between assignments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general technology
