About the role
F6 Data Solutions is hiring an HVAC Field Service Technician II to start up, commission, and troubleshoot mission-critical cooling equipment inside hyperscale data centers, based out of its rapidly expanding Dulles, Virginia market. Expect up to 100% travel (flights, hotel, and car rental covered by the company, plus a food per diem) as you support CRAH, CRAC, in-row heat exchanger, and air-handling systems alongside senior technicians. Pay runs $40–$48 an hour, with a defined path from Technician Apprentice up through Senior Field Service Technician.
Responsibilities
- Support startup and commissioning of CRAH, CRAC, in-row heat exchanger, and data center air handling equipment
- Perform pre-functional checks, verify installation and piping connections, and monitor equipment performance during startup
- Diagnose hydronic, chilled-water, and glycol cooling-loop issues alongside pumps, valves, and air-handling equipment
- Troubleshoot 24V control circuits and 120V/480V electrical systems, reading schematics to isolate control issues
- Document startup checklists, commissioning records, inspection reports, and daily field notes
- Travel to project sites nationwide (up to 100%, all costs covered) to support commissioning teams
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with HVAC, mechanical systems, or industrial equipment
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience and comfort reading electrical schematics
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and piping diagrams; hydronic systems experience preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to fly to project sites regularly
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and work extended hours during critical startup periods
